At Outwood Post 16 Doncaster we continue to mature and prosper as a provision over two sites bringing students an excellent experience whilst driving academic achievement through the outstanding support, care and guidance we extend to all students. We understand the importance of the time young people spend with us knowing that it will help shape the rest of their lives. That is why our vision of ‘Students First; raising standards and transforming lives.’ will always be a guiding light in all that we do. Regardless of background we will strive to provide students with the knowledge, skills and qualifications to make informed and developed choices by the time they leave us.

As students are completing Year 11 we will work with them to give them information and advice to help them to select the correct package of qualifications. That support will continue during transition, we have dedicated learning managers at both sites; exceptional staff who care deeply about all young people and will support the well-being and pastoral needs during a period of significant change in the lives of young people. This support is extended through guidance groups (similar to form groups) where students will discuss and consider future options through extra curricular experiences and activities that will complement their academic studies. We will endeavour to help our students to take responsibility for their ambitions and begin to realise their long term goals.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum with a range of level 3 qualifications including A levels and BTECs with subject experts putting students at the centre of what they do. This was noted by Ofsted who stated that:

We will work with students to instil confidence through developing their academic independence as we report back to them regularly on how they are doing and more crucially what they would need to do to improve and progress further. We are fully inclusive and focus on each student as an individual, tailoring what we do specifically to their unique aspirations, strengths and needs. We are confident in what we offer and know that we can support and improve the life chances of young people.

Outwood Doncaster Post 16 is the joining of two successful sixth form provisions to offer a wide range of interesting and academic courses to suit almost everyone. As individual schools, Outwood Academy Adwick and Outwood Academy Danum, we pride ourselves on the personal care, support and excellent academic opportunities and outcomes for all of our students. Bringing both schools together to form a joint sixth form brings a wealth of teaching expertise and a wide array of courses.

We believe in you and will offer you all of the support necessary to achieve highly. Joining as an Outwood secondary student you can be assured by the continued close pastoral and academic support that you have received in previous years, but with the independence that comes with Post-16 study. As a student joining afresh to Outwood, you will be welcomed with support and guidance to ensure we have a pathway that is right for each individual.

Two Learning Managers, one at each site are fantastic points of contact for you and your parents; ensuring that you have everything you need to be successful. Our teachers have many years of experience successfully delivering the courses we offer and almost all students who wish to go to university achieve a place at their first choice, including students offered places at Oxford and Cambridge. Those students seeking higher apprenticeships are also given lots of help to apply and we have an excellent, independent careers service for post 16 students to gain as much advice as possible before making decisions on next steps. We offer multifarious opportunities to explore future options and multiple chances to develop skills that will be useful in all areas of your life. 

We are proud of the growing numbers in our sixth form and even more so of the prestigious careers and universities students are going onto next in their learning journey.
